Uwiro School

The two schools (Momella and Uwiro) had long been designated by the government as additions to Kisimiri. As with many projects, the necessary money for the implementation was lacking. Both schools are located in the immediate vicinity of Kisimiri. Very soon it became clear to Friends of Kisimiri that supporting these two schools would take the strain off the schools of Kisimiri. Because of their popularity, these schools were in danger of bursting at the seams.

Starting in 2014, Friends of Kisimiri built four semi-detached houses for teachers, one girl's and one boy's accommodation to house 120 children each and a small bridge on the way from the girls' accommodation to the school. In Uwiro, Friends of Kisimiri started to build a dining hall in 2020. The local population is very motivated to make their own contributions. But only two classrooms have been built. There is still a lot of work to be done. FoK will participate in this project within the scope of its financial means. The above-mentioned dining hall fulfils a great symbolic task as a multi-purpose room; it serves as a canteen, meeting room for the village population and as an examination hall.
